Thanks for sharing, Christine. Great way to respond to and build upon another creator's post. And all so true. Dr. Vinall is one of my favorite people on Substack. I'm glad you two are connected.

Her original piece was so compelling. I also loved that it pointed out that "therapists are people too." We have issues. And our shared humanity is what enhances compassion.

An important part of what you shared is that the perpetrator of the trauma is the one responsible for the trauma not the victim. I also liked your pointing out that clients can cognitively understand they are not responsible for the trauma but still struggle with self blame.

Absolutely. The perpetrator is 100% responsible for 100% of attacks, no matter what. Victims don't cause attacks. Attackers do. I can't say it enough!!! Thank you for comment and for reading!

I was only 6 when I had a panic attack. I'm 73. My father a schizophrenic deaf man assaulted my mother for 2 decades. Until one of my brothers knocked him on his ass
